Marva Ballard has been designing unique wearable art garments under the label M.G. Ballard Designs since 1982. Her hand painted apparel earned her a nomination for the N.Y. More Fashion Awards sponsored by the R.J. Reynolds company in 1984. In 1986 She fell in love with working with leather while using the skins from a bunch of old leather and fur garments to create a wearable art coat for her sister to wear to the Grammys. Later working with manufacturers, she sold her wearable art leather apparel to stores across the country. She now focuses on creating one-of-a-kind wearable art coats created in-house, and other apparel items that feature her textile designs.
